Reserves Beat Lebanon 1-0 in Season Opener

The Hanover Reserve Boys defeated Lebanon 1-0 in the opening game of the season at The Pasture. In the fifth minutes of the match exchange student Johannes Honneth received a pass across the net quickly from Jeffry Li and blasted a shot nearly straight through the net into the upper ninety, out of the reach of the Lebanon goalie. Throughout the first half Lebanon only had one scoring chance that was easily batted away by Brendan Rhim in the Hanover net.

In the second half scoring opportunities were again few and far between for Hanover. Alex Brown and Philip Caffry both connected on headers from crosses off Oren Wilcox's feet only to have them miss high and wide. Hanover's defense was solid as a rock for the entire match. Matthew Couture was outstanding hands and feet above his cohorts, clearing nearly every ball confidently and bringing it up to mid-field and beyond when space was available. Brendan Rhim recorded his first career shutout.

The Reserves will practice Thursday and Friday from 4:00 - 5:30 at the Pasture.
